Russian Anastasia Myskina continued her late-season revival with a dominant win.
The top-seeded Myskina blew past Karolina Sprem of Croatia, 6-2 6-2, to capture her first title of the season in the final of the inaugural Sunfeast Open.
The 2004 French Open champion, Myskina struggled earlier in the season as her mother went through a serious illness.
But outside of a pair of losses last week as Russia successfully defended its Fed Cup title, the 24-year-old has 18 wins in her last 22 matches.
She was particularly impressive here, dropping just 16 games in five matches.
"It's very special to win this title because it's been nearly a year since I won a tournament," said Myskina, whose last win came in October 2004 in Moscow.
"It's only the start of the indoor season, and this is a time of year I normally play well, so it's good for me to win here."
Myskina scored a pair of early breaks to open a 4-0 lead and breezed through the first set.
The players traded breaks in the first four games of the second set before Myskina held and pounced, forcing Sprem into a handful of unforced errors.
"The score looks easy, but it was definitely getting tougher in the second set," Myskina said.
"When I held serve for 3-2, I felt like I was getting more in control."
"I don't think I did too much wrong," Sprem said. "Anastasia was just too good."
Myskina also paired with compatriot Elena Likhovtseva to win the doubles title, dropping just one game in the title match.
Competing in her first final since Vienna in June 2003, Sprem fell to 0-2 lifetime against Myskina and 0-3 all-time in finals.
"I'm not disappointed because it was great for me to reach a final after so long," Sprem said.
"I haven't had a very good year, so for me to do well here it gives me a lot of confidence and makes me believe I can get back to where I was in 2004."
