Belgium's Justine Henin-Hardenne is ready for the French
Open.
Henin-Hardenne claimed her third consecutive claycourt title with a 6-3 4-6
6-3 victory over Russia's Nadia Petrova in the final of the Qatar
Total German Open on Sunday.
Henin-Hardenne improved to 6-1 all-time against the 22-year-old Petrova, the
sixth seed here who was playing in her first Tier I final.
Coming off consecutive WTA titles in Warsaw and Charleston, the 12th-seeded
Henin-Hardenne won her 17th straight match, tieing compatriot Kim Clijsters for
the longest winning streak on the WTA Tour this season, and improved to 20-1
this season.
The 2003 French Open winner has not lost on clay since returning.
With Sunday's victory, the 22-year-old is projected to be ranked number 11 in the
world as she continues her climb back from knee problems and illness.
Henin-Hardenne returned to the court last month in Miami after being out of
action since the US Open in September.
In Friday's quarter-finals, the former world number one avenged her only setback
since her return with a straight-set triumph over Russian Maria Sharapova.
She dispatched Patty Schnyder of Switzerland, 6-0 6-1, in the semi-finals.
