Top seed Maria Sharapova cruised to an emphatic
straight-sets win over unseeded American Mashona Washington in the final of the
AIG Japan Open Tennis Championships on Saturday to claim her second successive
WTA tour title.
The Wimbledon champion wasted little time in storming to a 6-0 6-1 victory
over Washington, who was competing in her first tour final.
Sharapova, 17, also enjoyed success at the Hansol Korea Open Tennis
Championships in Seoul last week.
