Amelie Mauresmo crushed Elena Likhovtseva with
an awesome display of tennis to win the Rogers Cup in Montreal on Sunday.
The unseeded Likhovtseva had defeated Jennifer Capriati and Anastasia Myskina
to reach the final, but the Russian was no match for Mauresmo, who won 11
straight games to triumph 6-1 6-0.
With this victory, Mauresmo rises to number two in the world rankings.
And if she can maintain such an excellent level of performance, she has a real
chance of winning the US Open, which begins on August 30.
