Anabel Medina Garrigues captured the second WTA
Tour title of her career at Palermo on Sunday - three years after claiming her
maiden victory at the same Italian tournament.
The Spanish second seed maintained her record of not having lost a set all
week by overcoming fifth-seeded home hope Flavia Pennetta 6-4 6-4.
The Internazionali Femminili di Palermo has been kind to Medina Garrigues who
also won the doubles title this week.
She and Arantxa Sanchez-Vicario, the former world number one who is on the
comeback trail after two years in retirement, celebrated a title on Saturday
which they hope to follow up with a medal at the Olympic Games next month.
The all-Spanish team recorded a 6-3 7-6 (7/4) victory against Slovakians
Lubomira Kurhajcova and Henrieta Nagyova.
