Russian second seed Anastasia Myskina captured her
second title of the year on Sunday at the Sarasota Open claycourt event in
Florida.
Myskina stormed to a 6-4 6-1 win over Australian qualifier Alicia Molik to
claim her fourth career title.
The 21-year-old Myskina arrived in Sarasota on a three-match losing streak,
but rebounded to win five matches in a row for the second time this year.
Myskina had a six-match winning streak in February when she claimed the Qatar
Women's Open and reached the quarter-finals in Dubai.
The Russian has continued the success she achieved last season.
In 2002, she won one title and reached three finals to qualify for the
season-ending tour championship for the first time in her career.
Despite the loss, Molik is enjoying her best year to date. She claimed her
first career WTA title in January at Hobart and appeared in the fourth round at
the Nasdaq-100 Open in Miami.
