Slovenian Maja Matevzic dropped just one
game as she won a one-sided VUB Open final in Bratislava on Sunday afternoon.
The Slovenian beat Iveta Benesova 6-0 6-1 to clinch her maiden title on the
WTA Tour.
Matevzic carried on from her semi-final win over Italian Rita Grande in which
she lost the first set to love but then dropped just two further games in the
match.
For Czech qualifier Benesova, it was one match too many after a hard last-four
match against top seed Nathalie Dechy.
She was overwhelmed from the outset by Matevzic who reached the quarter-finals
of the Kremlin Cup earlier this month and is enjoying arguably the best month of
her career.
