Greece's grass-court queen Elena
Daniilidou underlined her status as a Wimbledon threat by securing a
maiden tour title at the Ordina Open.
The 19-year-old world number 51 is expected to make a mockery of her ranking
at Wimbledon where her first-round opponent is Croatian Jelena Kostanic, and was
too strong in Hertogenbosch for Elena Dementieva.
Russian Dementieva is seeded 12 for the All England Championships but lost 3-6
6-2 6-3 on Saturday at the grass-court tournament.
Daniilidou's path to the final was blocked by awkward obstacles, but she scored big wins over seeds Amelie Mauresmo and Justine Henin.
"This is my favourite surface," she said.
"It was a tough draw. I really didn't expect to win the Ordina Open but I'll
be back here next year to defend my title."
