Jelena Dokic claimed her first title under the Yugoslavian flag and the fourth of her career as she defeated Russian Tatiana Panova at the Sarasota Open.

The former Australian, a former Wimbledon semi-finalist, won 6-2 6-2 on SUnday.

Tenth seed Panova was a surprise finalist and offered little resistance.

Dokic also clinched the doubles title, as she and another Russian, Elena Dementieva, defeated Belgian Els Callens and Spaniard Conchita Martinez 6-7 (7/5) 6-3 6-3.

Last season, Dokic won the Italian Open, Toyota Princess Cup and Kremlin Cup titles, before deciding to play as a Yugoslavian in November.
