Venus Williams claimed her second title of the
season on Sunday when Jelena Dokic withdrew from the Gaz de France final because of
injury.
Dokic had beaten Monica Seles in the semi-finals yesterday and was looking for
her first win of the season.
Williams, who beat defending champion Amelie Mauresmo in her semi, claimed
victory at the Thalgo Australian Women's Hardcourt tournament at the start of
the year.
The walkover gave Williams, the world number two, her 23rd career WTA Tour
title.
