Switzerland claimed both singles
titles at the adidas International after Martina Hingis followed up Roger
Federer's earlier win with victory over Meghann Shaughnessy.
Hingis, seeded second, needed less than an hour to win 6-2 6-3.
The 21-year-old, for whom it was the first title in 11 months, always looked in
control against her eighth-seeded opponent and took the first set after
breaking the American twice.
The second was slightly closer but once again Hingis prevailed to win the event
for the second successive year.
Federer, seeded two, needed just 50 minutes to beat Argentinian qualifier Juan
Ignacio Chela 6-3 6-3 to claim his second ATP Tour title.
The 20-year-old, seeded 11 for next week's Australian Open, where he faces a
tricky first round clash with Michael Chang, won the first set by breaking
Chela in the sixth game.
Federer also broke early in the second and then clinched the match on his
second championship point.
