Angeles Montolio made it a Spanish sweep by winning the women's title at the Estoril Open.
Montolio bagged the first WTA Tour title of her career with a hard-earned victory over Russian teenager Elena Bovina, 3-6 6-3 6-2.
"I was very tired at the beginning, but I managed to turn the match around in the first two games of the second set," said Montolio.
"I am very happy to have won my first title on the Tour. All the efforts and sacrifices have finally paid off. The Estoril Open is always going to be a special place for me," added Montolio.
Bovina, 18, was playing in Estoril for the first time.
So far in 2001 she has won three ITF events in Great Britain and also reached the quarterfinals at Indian Wells, falling to eventual finalist Kim Clijsters.
"I am disappointed because I did not play my game," said Bovina.
"I knew her strategy and type of play and I knew I had to come up to the net, but for some reason, I stayed at the back.
"But I reached my first final on the tour and I'm happy for that," she added.
