Jo-Wilfried Tsonga burst onto the scene and became a household name among tennis fans when he reached the final of the Australian Open in 2008.
He has endured his fair share of injuries since then, but the powerful Frenchman showed he still has the hunger and fitness to win trophies with 2009 victories in Johannesburg and Marseille.
Tsonga failed to replicate his Melbourne heroics this season and crashed out to Fernando Verdasco in the last eight. His second Grand Slam, on home soil in France, also ended in early disappointment when he was eliminated by beaten finalist Juan Martin Del Potro.
His preparations for just his second Wimbledon also suffered an early blow when he caught veteran, and eventually winner, Tommy Haas on top form in the second round at Halle.
However, despite lacking experience at the All England Club, Tsonga certainly has the tools - a big serve and massive forehand - to cause a shock.
