Andy Murray kept his charge towards a maiden Grand Slam title firmly on track with a comprehensive 6-2 6-3 6-4 win over Viktor Troicki on Wimbledon's Centre Court.

Murray, who dispatched unseeded duo Robert Kendrick and Ernests Gulbis in the opening two rounds, wrapped up victory over his Serbian counterpart in just one hour and 36 minutes.

The Scotsman's prize is a last-16 date with number 19 seed Stanislas Wawrinka - a 5-7 7-5 6-3 6-3 victor over American Jesse Levine earlier on day six.

Murray got his third-round clash with number 30 seed Troicki off to the perfect start when he clinched the opening set 6-2 inside 27 minutes.

The British number one broke for the first time in the sixth game when Troicki fired down two double faults and then struck a weak forehand into the net.

And the 22-year-old wrapped up the set in the eighth game when he once again pounced on a slack Troicki service game to the delight of the vocal home crowd.

Murray continued to read the Troicki serve and snatched his third break of the match in the second game of the second set as the Serbian looked on in dismay.

The gulf in class between the players was there for all to see, and with Murray's serve coming under no pressure whatsoever, the lone British hope smashed down his 12th ace of the match in the ninth game to serve out the second set 6-3.

The third set followed a similar pattern to the previous two, however Troicki showed more character as he tried desperately to salvage some pride.

Nevertheless, a break in the very first game opened the door for Murray, who kept hold of his serve for the remainder of the set to secure victory.

The feisty Scot served out to take the set and the match, winning 6-2 6-3 6-4 to set up a fourth-round encounter with Switzerland's Wawrinka on Monday.

"Today was very good, I felt a little bit uncomfortable at the start, it was very different conditions to the other day," said the world number three afterwards.

"The clouds came over, it was raining a little bit and quite a lot of wind, but after the first set or so I started to feel more comfortable. I'm very happy with the first week, I got better with every match."

Asked to grade his performances, the 22-year-old Scot added: "All you have to do is win, I don't mind if I play terrible as long as I come through.

"I'll have to give myself an A for coming through the first week, each win is a big one here (but) I'm going to have to play better next week if I want to come home with the title."

Lleyton Hewitt's fantastic Wimbledon run continued when he brushed aside German Philipp Petzschner in straight-sets to advance into the fourth round.

The fiery Australian edged two tight sets before breaking his opponent twice to dominate matters in the third, closing out a 7-5 7-6 6-3 win.

On this form, the Aussie could fancy his chances of adding a second SW19 title to the one he captured back in 2002.

"I played a great tie-break,'' said Hewitt afterwards. "That was the key to the match in the end, to go up two sets to love."

Next up for him will be Czech star Radek Stepanek, provided the Czech is fit.

The number 23 seed revealed after defeating fellow veteran David Ferrer that he was struggling with a knee injury.

Stepanek won the first two sets and looked set for a straight-forward victory but was pegged back by the determined Spaniard before eventually winning 7-5 7-5 3-6 4-6 6-4.

"Hopefully, I'll be all right,'' he said. "I just called my doctor and, if he can show up right away and try to help me get ready for my match, I'll be ready to battle again.

"When I hit the ball, I felt there was something wrong with the knee. When I came back to serve, my knee didn't respond, it just broke down."

Andy Roddick is also in Hewitt's section of the draw - they could meet in the last eight. The American dropped a set for the third consecutive match but eventually powered past Austrian Jurgen Melzer.

The two players were evenly matched throughout and the first two sets went to tie-breaks, with Roddick pulling out the points when it mattered most to win them both.

Melzer hit back by claiming the first break of serve in the third set but the sixth-seeded American finished the job off in the next set to claim a 7-6 7-6 4-6 6-3 victory.

"Considering the way he served in the first two sets, I was glad to get through with a two-set lead,'' Roddick said.

"I was having trouble getting a read on it. He was hitting all of his spots.

"I've played him a lot of times. That's the best he's served against me.''

Nikolay Davydenko was sent crashing out in the third round by big-serving Czech Tomas Berdych.

The 12th seed never managed to get into his stride on Court One and was comfortably dispatched 6-2 6-3 6-2 by the 23-year-old.

Tommy Haas finally prevailed in his epic five-set encounter with Croatian 11th seed Marin Cilic.

Play was suspended on Friday night with the contest poised at 6-6 in the final set. Another six games followed on Saturday until Haas tied-up a 7-5 7-5 1-6 6-7 10-8 victory.

In another match carried over from Friday, Russia's Igor Andreev duly rounded out a 6-1 7-6 4-6 7-6 victory over Italy's Andreas Seppi.

Number eight seed Gilles Simon also progressed on day six, he overcame Romanian Victor Hanescu 6-2 7-5 6-2 and will play Juan Carlos Ferrero for a place in the last eight.

Spain's Ferrero shocked 10th seed Fernando Gonzalez in the last singles match of the day when he prevalied 4-6 7-5 6-4 4-6 6-4 in a five-set epic.

The ladies' action brough two big shocks with French Open champion Svetlana Kuznetsova and former world number one Jelena Jankovic both being dumped out by teenagers.

German youngster Sabine Lisicki produced a remarkable upset to defeat Kuznetsova, while 17-year-old qualifier Melanie Oudin proved too good for Jankovic, who struggled in the heat and needed to call the doctor on court during her loss.

Lisicki, a 19-year-old German, revelled in the spotlight of Court One, and easily took the first set before racing into a commanding lead in the second.

Despite struggling with her game, Kuznetsova managed to fight back from 2-5 down to 5-5. She also saved four match points before finally succumbing to a 6-2 7-5 defeat.

"I'm just so happy,'' said Lisicki, after sealing the biggest win of her career to date. "I just kept fighting. It was tough but I'm so happy to have pulled it out.

"It's a huge win for me because before Wimbledon I had not won a match on grass so I can't believe I'm in the fourth round. My parents and best friend were here today so it's the best thing that could have happened.''

Kuznetsova said poor movement by her was at the root of the defeat.

"I wasn't feeling comfortable at all. I was not moving much and I was not doing my thing. I didn't serve (well). Some days it's not going your way and I was just standing there and not doing much."

Earlier Jankovic had also suffered a shock loss.

In a match that lasted almost three hours, the Serb took a marathon first set tie-break to gain the advantage but wilted in the heat to fall 6-7 7-5 6-2 to the world number 124.

Showing maturity beyond her years, Oudin outfoxed her opponent to level the match at one set each before dominating the decider to secure victory.

"From what I have seen, she can play if you let her play. But she cannot hurt you with anything. She doesn't have any weapons, from what I've seen," Jankovic said of her opponent after the match, hardly the most gracious of defeats.

She also revealed how she felt after having to call for the doctor.

"After the first set I felt really dizzy and I thought that I was going to end up in the hospital,'' she said. "I started to shake. I was losing my consciousness.''

She decided to carry on but remarked she was "feeling quite weak'' and had "no power''.

"I was like a ghost, you know, white in the face,'' said Jankovic. "Really, I didn't know where I was.

"The physio came out and she asked me, 'Do you know your name?'. I just saw blurry. It was a really strange feeling. I was scared and I started to cry."

Oudin was ecstatic, saying: "This is my first year in the pros in Wimbledon and I'm actually in the fourth round so it's unbelievable."

Defending champion Venus Williams had no such problems. She was made to work in the second set but in the end had no problems disposing of Carla Suarez Navarro 6-0 6-4.

Suarez Navarro, who had upset Venus at the Australian Open earlier in the year, was thrashed in the opening set before making a mini-comeback in the second.

But Williams contained her charge comfortably and progressed to the fourth round with minimum exertion.

Top seed Dinara Safina outclassed world number 110 Kirsten Flipkens 7-5 6-1. Flipkens refused to lie down in the first set and actually held set point but once Safina edged ahead there was no way back for the Belgian.

Ninth-seed Carloine Wozniacki secured her place in the last 16 with a simple 6-2 6-2 win over Anabel Medina Garrigues.

The Spaniard could not find a way into the match and was broken five times during the course of the straight-sets pasting.

Ana Ivanovic also made short work of her third-round clash with dangerous Aussie Samantha Stosur, claiming a 7-5 6-2 victory over the 18th seed.

The former world number one, who has not progressed beyond the fourth round of a grand slam since her French Open victory last year, held her nerve to take a tight first set.

She then went on to dominate the second, breaking her opponent's serve twice to tie up the win in one hour and 10 minutes.

Poland's Agnieszka Radwanska sailed through a potentially tricky clash with Li Na, of China, 6-4 7-5 and now meets Oudin.

And former champion Amelie Mauresmo continued her quiet progression through the rounds with a 7-5 6-3 win over 15th-seeded Italian Flavia Pennetta. She will play Safina next.
