Israel hasn't produced many tennis stars, but it has one now in 20-year-old Peer. The winner of three tournaments in 2006, she has not enjoyed as much success this season, although she was a quarter-finalist at the Australian Open and reached the final in Memphis. Has yet to prove that she can adapt her game to grass from her favoured hardcourts, losing in the second round here on each of her two visits.
