Bammer is something of a rarity in the fact that she is a mother who is competing on the WTA Tour. Gave birth to a daughter in 2001, at which stage her career did not appear to be going anywhere fast. Won on the ITF circuit on her return to action and began a steady climb up the rankings which has brought her within touching distance of the top 20. Made the third round here 12 months ago and following a run to the last 16 in Paris she will be confident of going better this time around.
