1986 - Born February 13, Dunblane

1999 - One of the world's best junior players, Murray attends an LTA school in Cambridge. Younger brother Andy later blames this for ruining the left-hander's singles career.

2004 - Reaches doubles semi-finals of junior US Open with brother Andy.

2006 - Decides to concentrate on doubles and reaches two ATP tour finals.

With American partner Eric Butorac he loses to the world's top pair Mike and Bob Bryan in Los Angeles in July and in September loses the final in Bangkok with brother Andy.

2007 - Wins four titles with fellow left-hander Butorac in Memphis, San Jose, Dallas and Nottingham.

April - Plays first Davis Cup tie for Great Britain against Holland at the NEC in Birmingham, partnering Greg Rusedski to victory in the doubles.

July 8 - Wins mixed doubles final at Wimbledon, partner Jelena Jankovic helping him to a 6-4 3-6 6-1 defeat of Jonas Bjorkman and Alicia Molik.
