thursday clockwatch
Nadal - came from two sets down.
1915: That's it. Play is suspended for the day. It's all back tomorrow at 1100 BST when there will be all four men's quarter-finals and two ladies' semis to play.
1910: Still raining in SW19. With every minute that goes by, there's less chance we'll restart tonight.
1900: Lleyton Hewitt has been looking back on what might have been. He lost in four sets to Novak Djokovic today, a match lasting more than four hours. "I fought so hard to get back in a position to give myself another crack at it (he had been two sets down). To his credit though he went for his shots a little bit more when I served up for the fourth set. Up until then he was starting to get a little tighter and missing some balls that he hadn't missed, especially in the first two and a half sets. I had my opportunity though and I couldn't quite take it."
1825: Tomas Berdych is in confident mood ahead of his clash with Rafael Nadal tomorrow - and no wonder, he leads their head-to-head record 3-2 with both of Nadal's wins having come on the slow clay. "The quarter-final is going to be a very tough match. I'm going to play Rafa for the first time on the grass court. I think the advantage is that we're not going to play on clay. I could be 5-1 up and still it's like nothing. But if we play hard or indoor, then I have a chance. I'm now in the quarter-finals, everything is fine. I think the grass can be a little advantage for me."
1820: There's been an announcement that a dry spell is expected in around an hour. Good news, although it won't leave long before the light starts to fade...
1800: At least the organisers managed to get those fourth-round matches completed today so even if there is no more play today, there's still a good chance of a Sunday finish. All the men's quarter-finals could be played tomorrow, plus the two ladies' semis. Then it would be the two men's semis on Saturday morning, followed by the ladies' final. And then the men's final could still take place on Sunday. That's assuming there's not a lot more rain. Fingers crossed!
1745: Reaction from Ana Ivanovic now. She saved three match points before defeating Nicole Vaidisova earlier. She's just admitted: "I still haven't realised what happened. It was an unbelievable match. To have the chance to play on Centre Court was amazing, so I was little bit nervous in the beginning. It was a very emotional match for me. She's a great player and she played some really good tennis. I had to fight for every point. I was a break down in the second and third sets. To come back and win it was amazing." There's still rain falling by the way.
1730: Still we wait for the rain to relent. Meanwhile, Noavk Djokovic has been talking up his chances. "Why can't I win Wimbledon?," he asked after his win over Lleyton Hewitt. "I know that I will have to play better, but why not?" Perhaps one reason is the fact his match today lasted more than four hours and that after playing a couple of sets yesterday. He'll be back tomorrow against Marcos Baghdatis, a player who won't go down without a fight.
1715: Rafael Nadal he played his best ever match on grass today as he came from two sets down to beat Mikhail Youzhny. "After the first two sets, I played my best game on grass in my life. I have never played like this on grass, very aggressive all the time, serving well and returning very well."
1710: Marcos Baghdatis has given his views on his victory over Nikolay Davydenko and said conditions were tricky today. "It was tough out there. Conditions were tough. We both didn't play
very good; we both didn't serve very good. I just tried to fight, just tried to put the balls more times than him in the court. That's what I did. That's why I won." Next up for the Cypriot is Novak Djokovic tomorrow.
1604: It's not looking great. Rain had been forecast around this time. The tents are now up on the show courts and there could be a long delay here.
1552: Over on Court One, Roddick and Gasquet had yet to begin. They were just knocking up when the rain came, so nothing to report from there.
1550: It's been a little sloppy from the top seed so far. He failed to serve out and is now in trouble on serve again. Perhaps that long break hasn't been to his advantage after all.
1549: Ferrero pulls back to deuce on Federer's serve when rain begins to fall and the players are pulled off Centre Court.
1547: More doubles news and more success for Great Britain! Bogdanovic and South have followed up their wins over the top seeds yesterday by seeing off 13th seeds Wassen and Chan 6-4 6-3. They are into the quarter-finals.
1545: A hold to 15 levels things up at 5-5.
1543: Against the odds Ferrero breaks back to keep the set alive!
1539: Federer is now serving for the first set at 5-3 on Centre. Over on Court One we await the arrival of Andy Roddick and Richard Gasquet for their quarter-final.
1537: Venus Williams has been speaking about her win over Svetlana Kuznetsova and she will now face Ana Ivanovic in the semis tomorrow. And she had a warning for the Serb: "I'm really a big-match player. I get up for these matches. I feel like I know what I'm doing. I expect so much from myself. I expect to come off playing very well." Williams added that the matches coming thick and fast following the rain delays were not a problem for her. "It's OK because if I have a day off it would mean I'm out of the tournament," she joked.
1534: Over on Centre, Federer leads 4-2. Ferrero is causing him few problems.
1532: Hewitt nets and it's all over. A real war of attrition from the baseline is over after four hours and 12 minutes of excellent tennis. Djokovic wins 7-6 7-6 4-6 7-6 and progresses to meet Marcos Baghdatis in tomorrow's quarter-final. How much that lengthy battle will hinder him in 24 hours' time remains to be seen.
1531: A good backhand from Hewitt proves too hot for Djokovic to handle. 6-4 now. Another well-placed backhand is a winner and it's 6-5. One match point left on the Djokovic serve.
1530: Hewitt goes well long with a backhand and it's three match points to the fourth seed.
1529: Here's the fighting spirit from Hewitt. He steps in to batter a short ball from Djokovic. 5-3 now.
1528: Superb depth in the next rally from Hewitt brings him back to 5-2. Djokovic has two serves for the match now though.
1527: They change ends at 5-1 after Djokovic restores his cushion.
1525: A poor shot into the net from Djokovic hands one of the mini-breaks back. 4-1. Two serves to come from the Aussie.
1524: Brilliant from Djokovic! He produces some superb defence and then comes up with a sensational cross-court winner for 4-0. In the process, Hewitt slippped and appeared to twist his ankle. He's up to continue though.
1523: Now Hewitt goes wide. He's in trouble at 3-0 down and Djokovic to serve.
1522: And there's the mini-break. Djokovic grinds Hewitt down from the back of the court and eventually the error comes. Hewitt getting some of his own medicine today.
1521: Djokovic successfully challenges on the first point of the breaker. His balll just caught the line and he moves 1-0 in front. Hewitt to serve now.
1520: Hewitt holds to 15 comfortably. It's another tie-break - the third of the match.
1519: They've started on Centre and you won't be surprised to hear that Federer has broken at the first time of asking and already leads Ferrero 2-0.
1517: Brits Bogdanovic and South have taken the first set 6-4 against Wassen and Chan.
1515: Fist pumping from Djokovic as he holds for 6-5. Pressure is back on Hewitt who must hold to stay in the match.
1511: Hewitt then buries a backhand into the net and it's back to 5-5. There really is very little between these two players.
1510: Djokovic's deep return forces an error from Hewitt and it's break point at 30-40.
1509: Hewitt immediately falls 0-30 down! However, an ace brings it back to 15-30.
1506: Hewitt moves to 0-40 on the Djokovic serve. The Serb saves the first break point with a nerveless drop shot, but on the second a superb return flashes across Djokovic and Hewitt will now serve to level this match.
1504: The British mixed doubles pair of Alex Bogdanovic and Melanie South caused a big upset last night when they took out the top seeds. They are back in action now and are 4-2 up against Rogier Wassen and Yung-Jan Chan.
1503: Hewitt stands firm and levels at 4-4.
1502: Next up on Centre is Roger Federer against Juan Carlos Ferrero. The top seed hasn't played since Friday. Will he be rusty? Doubtful. Remember he looked highly impressive last week despite a fortnight off following the French Open.
1501: Now Hewitt is raging at himself for falling break point down. Djokovic goes long though and it's back to deuce.
1500: Over on Court One, Hewitt has just saved two break points at 3-4. The disgusted Serb smashes hhis racquet into the turf. The crowd don't like that.
1456: And it's all over with a double fault! Ivanovic saved three match points before winning 4-6 6-2 7-5. Vaidisova walks straight off the court. She can't believe what's happened. She lost the last five games and it's the Serb who will play Venus Williams in the semis.
1455: Second serve from Vaidisova but Ivanovic frames it. Deuce. Now Vaidisova volleys into the net. Match point again.
1454: An ace brings it back to 30-30. Great serving in the circumstances. Then a backhand from Ivanovic loops into the corner of the court and Vaidisova can't believe it. She's match point down.
1453: 0-30 on Centre and Vaidisova is in trouble.
1451: Another break-point chance for Hewitt. Djokovic appears to hit a superb backhand winner but it's called out. A successful challenge saves the Serb though.
1450: A solid service game from Ivanovic takes her in front for the first time since the opening game of the set. 6-5 and all the pressure is back on the Czech.
1449: Over on Court One, Hewitt and Djokovic have battled on to 3-3. It's so close out there.
1448: And Ivanovic levels at 5-5. Another shot wide from Vaidisova. How much damage has been done mentally given Vaidisova has already missed three match points?
1447: Vaidisova now goes wide and it's break back points for Ivanovic. Even Hawk-eye can't help the Czech.
1446: A brilliant forehand on the run from Ivanovic makes it 15-15. Vaidisova then nets to fall 15-30 down.
1444: Ivanovic manages to hold. it's 5-4 but now Vaidisova will serve for the match. Does she have the nerves to do it?
1443: Again Ivanovic survives, Vaidisova netting a simple return.
1442: Ivanovic goes wide with a forehand and it's match point number three. Djokovic holds for 3-2 on Court One.1441: Ivanovic lets out a scream of delight as she wins an exciting net exchange, putting away a backhand volley to move to advantage. However, a backhand slice is then netted to take the score back to deuce.
1440: Ivanovic then comes in behind a big serve to put away a forehand winner. It's back to deuce.
1439: And a mis-hit forehand from the Serb takes Vaidisova to two match points. The first is saved after a lengthy rally.
1438: Ivanovic is in trouble after sending a shot long. 15-30.
1436: Aided by an ace, Vaidisova wins the next game to 15 and is now just one game away from her first Wimbledon semi-final.
1435: Three break-back points for Djokovic. He needs just one and it's back to 2-2 in the fourth set.
1433: A crisp volley from Ivanovic followed by a wide return from Vaidisova sees Ivanovic hold from 30-30. However, time is running out for the teenage Serb. 4-3.
1431: Hewitt breaks as Djokovic dumps a double-fisted backhand into the net. 2-1. Can the Aussie follow in Nadal's footsteps and come from two sets down to win? You wouldn't put it past him.
1429: Some big hitting in that game from Vaidisova helps her move 4-2 up. Good stuff from the 18-year-old.
1428: It's 1-1 on Court One between Djokovic and Hewitt. The Serb doesn't look to be hindered too much by his back problem.
1426: Ivanovic pulls the deficit back to 3-2. But she'll need to hit back on Vaidisova's serve soon if she's to keep her title dream alive.
1424: It's now 3-1 Vaidisova on Centre. We'll focus on that for the time being. Remember the winner will face Venus Williams in the semi-finals.
1422: That was a truly remarkable turnaround. Youzhny did not face a break point as he swept into a two-set lead. But from that point Nadal lost just five games. He will now face Tomas Berdych in the last eight. Nadal could have done without the five-setter though - he'll be back tomorrow (and Saturday and Sunday if he gets to the final).
1421: More match points for Nadal - three of them on his own serve. And the Spaniard sends a backhand deep into the corner to seal a memorable comeback.
1420: Another twist on Centre where Vaidisova has just broken for a 2-1 lead in the decider.
1419: Youzhny holds but Nadal will now try to serve out at 5-2.
1418: Nadal moves to match point but Youzhny hits the line to take him out wide. The Russian then scores with a volley. On Court One, Djokovic is back out and playing.
1417: Better serving from Vaidisova. She slams down some 'biggies' in that game to hold to 15 and it's back to 1-1.
1415: Seven out of eight now for Ivanovic as she holds serve at the start of the third and final set.
1413: A love hold from Nadal makes it 5-1. He seals the game with an ace.
1412: Djokovic is being put through stretches by the trainer as he looks to solve the problem. The base of the back is being looked at.
1409: Nadal finally strikes after a lengthy fifth game - the longest of the match. The Spaniard now leads 4-1 with a double break and it looks all over. Meanwhile, Djokovic has called for the trainer after that fall.
1408: Hewitt closes out the set in an entertaining clash. Djokovic now leads by two sets to one. He seems to have shaken off his injury problem. On Centre, Ivanovic has levelled up against Vaidisova who is in danger of meltdown. She's won six games out of seven. One set all.
1406: Big moments these as Youzhny again staves off the break point. Over on Court One, Hewitt moves to set point against Djokovic.
1405: Youzhnystands firm with a fine drop shot but in the next point Nadal again comes forward to move to advantage once more.
1404: Nadal comes to the net to volley and move to break point. Surely this is over if he takes this opportunity.
1403: Youzhny is trying to roar himself back into the match against Nadal. He's cheering points in a bid to get his adrenalin pumping. However, Nadal pegs him back to deuce.
1401: An update from Centre and that ladies' quarter-final. Ivanovic has just broken again and now lead 4-2 in the second set. It looks as if things are turning around there.
1359: Nadal holds for 3-1. Back on Court One, Hewitt leads 5-3 but Djokovic suffered a fall a minute ago and doesn't seem to be moving with his previous fluency now.
1355: Perhaps there is. As if to say 'what about me?' Nadal sends a forehand deep into the corner to force an error from Youzhny on break point. The second seed leads the final set 2-1 now. This would be some comeback.
1353: Hewitt breaks the Djokovic serve for a 4-3 lead in the third set. We mentioned Serena Williams being the best fighter on the WTA Tour yesterday. Is there a more dogged competitor on the men's side than Hewitt?
1351: Berdych has just wrapped up a 6-4 6-0 6-7 6-0 victory over Bjorkman. He's into the quarter-finals where he will face Nadal or Youzhny.
1350: Ivanovic has got the second set back on serve against Vaidisova and she now leads it 2-1. It looks like there's plenty of fight left in the Serb despite that first-set loss.
1348: Youzhny holds to love in the opening game of the decider. Is he going to summon up the strength for an upset from somehwere?
1346: Lleyton Hewitt is another renowned fighter and he's come from two sets down to win four times in the past. He faces a tough ask to makke that five today though. Djokovic is playing very well. At least Hewitt manages to stave off break point and hold for 3-3.
1344: Berdych is running away with the fourth set against Bjorkman and is heading for the last eight. The Czech leads it 4-0.
1342: Nadal squares the match on Court Two. He's lost just three games in those last two sets. Youzhny is away for more treatment before the decider. That problem hasn't seemed to effect him too much movement-wise. Surely there's only one winner from here. Remember Nadal's five-set record is eight wins, two losses. Youzhny's is 9-7.
1340: Vaidisova breaks in the opening game of the second set and seems to be heading towards a semi-final showdown with Venus Williams, who beat Svetlana Kuznetsova earlier today.
1338: Youzhny misses an easy volley on break point to hand Nadal a 5-2 lead. It looks as if thhis is going to a deciding set. It's amazing how this match has turned around. Remember Youzhny did not have to face a single break point in the opening two sets.
1336: Vaidisova takes the first set 6-4 in a nip-and-tuck battle on Centre against Ivanovic.
1334: Djokovic leads 2-1 in the third set as play resumes on Court One. The Serb is looking very comfortable and is outrallying Hewitt from the back of the court which takes some doing.
1330: Play is back under way on Centre and Vaidisova holds to move 5-3 in front in the first set against Ivanovic.
1328: Nadal isn't bothered by a spot of rain. He holds for 3-1. Meanwhile, Berydch has an early break in the fourth set against Bjorkman and leads 2-0. He'll be keen to finish that off with rain in the air and more expected later.
1326: The covers are coming back off Centre. It was a very brief shower and it didn't even stop Nadal and Youzhny.
1325:Baghdatis completes victory against Davydenko. It was in straight sets but the first two sets were tight. The Cypriot is a 7-6 7-6 6-3 winner and goes through to the last eight where he will play the winner of Hewitt and Djokovic.
1324: Youzhny fires a forehand well wide and Nadal has broken. Did the rain upset the Russian there? Nadal is on a roll now. He leads 2-1 with a break in the fourth set.
1322: In the mixed doubles, Jamie Murray and Jelena Jankovic have just completed a 7-6 6-7 6-3 victory over the third seeds, Mark Knowles and Zi Yan. A great win that for the scratch pairing.
1321: No covers yet on Court Two for Nadal and Youzhny's match. On they go.
1320: The umbrellas are going up I'm afraid. The two show courts have the covers brought on.
1316: Baghdatis is closing in on victory against Davydenko. He leads 4-2 in the third set. On Centre, Vaidisova still has her break and leads 3-2.
1315: Youznhy is back on court and has taken the first game of the fourth set against Nadal.
1313: Bjorkman has taken the third set and is still alive against Berdych. He took the breaker 8-6 and now trails by only two sets to one.
1311: Hewitt saves one but Djokovic makes the most of a half-court ball to win the breaker 7-2 and move into a two-set lead. Hewitt will feel slightly unlucky to have lost that set and he's now got a mountain to climb.
1310: Five set points to Djokovic at 6-1.
1309: It's 5-1 at the change of ends in Djokovic's favour - and he's still got one serve to come.
1308: Hewitt is trouble now. He's 4-1 down - that's two mini-breaks.
1307: Vaidisova is now 3-1 up on Ivanovic. Berydch and Bjorkman are at 4-4 in their breaker.
1306: Djokovic earns an early mini-break. 2-0.
1305: Hewitt and Djokovic are into a second successive tie-break. Meanwhile, Youzhny has called for the trainer who is massaging his lower back.
1304: Nadal serves out to win the third set 6-1. He runs back to his chair but still trails Youzhny by two sets to one. Game on out on Court Two now though.
1303: Bjorkman and Berdych are into a third-set tie-break. The Swede must win it to stay in the tournament.
1302: Nadal seems to be finding top gear at last. He's just broken again and is now serving for the third set at 5-1. He's twice come from two sets down in his career to win and his five-set record is also good - 8-2. Can he take it that far though?
1301: Baghdatis has an early break in the third set against Davydenko - 2-0 he leads it. But serve has hardly dominated out there.
1259: On Centre, Vadisova and Ivanovic are under way and it's Vaidisova who's made the better start, establishing a 2-0 lead.
1255: Nadal comes from 0-30 down to hold for 4-1. He's two sets down remember. hewitt and Djokovic move on to 5-5.
1254: Youznhy gets on the board in the third set with a hold to 30. It's now 3-1. Bjorkman is at least putting up a fight against Berdych. The Swede leads the third set 5-4 but it's on serve.
1252: Bad news for Jamie Murray. He and Jankovic have lost the second set to Knowles and Yan on a tie-break after squandering a break of serve. They are into a decider on Court Three.
1249: Baghdatis takes the tie-break 7-5 to open a two-set lead against Davydenko. Nadal holds for 3-0 and is buzzing at last on Court Two.
1247: Berdych manages to hold after staving off three break points. 3-3 in the third set there. Meanwhile, Hewitt holds from break point down to move 4-3 ahead in the second set against Djokovic.
1246: Nadal also earnsbreak point for the first time against Youzhny. And a double fault hands Nadal a 2-0 lead in the third set. Is that the turning point?
1244: On Court 18, Bjorkman forces his first break points of the match against Berdych. However, the Czech saves both.
1243: Davydenko does indeed take the second set into a tie-break.
1239: The inability to hold serve has continued out on Court 13. Davydenko failed to serve out and is now serving to force a tie-break against Baghdatis.
1237: Nadal takes Youzhny to deuce but the Russian is able to serve out and it's two sets to love. A serious shock is on the cards here. Can Nadal summon up a fightback?
1236: Finally, on her fifth match point, Williams seals her place in the semis when Kuznetsova sends a forehand long. Venus wins 6-3 6-4 and will now play the winner of the next match on Centre - Ana Ivanovic against Nicole Vaidisova.
1235: Again the chance is squandered. Another netted forehand. Nadal holds but Youzhny will serve for a two-set lead now.
1234: Williams saves the break point with a blistering forehand. And she gets another match point when the Russian hits into the tape and the ball bounces back on her side.
1233: She wastes them all - the third with a double fault. Suddenly Kuznetsova has break-back point! Hewitt and Djokovic are now at 2-2 in their second set.
1231: Venus moves to 40-0. Three match points.
1230: No joy there for Nadal. He's now 5-2 down and must hold and then break serve to prevent himself falling two sets down.
1229: And he could well be made to pay. He's just lost serve again and Davydenko will serve for the set at 5-4. What is the Cypriot playing at?
1228: Absolutely bizarre stuff on Court 13. Baghdatis keeps getting in front and then surrendering his advantages. It's now 4-4 in the second set.
1227: Kuznetsova is taken to deuce but holds and forced Venus to serve it out. 5-4.
1226: Hewitt manages to break straight back and it's 1-1. He celebrates wildly. Meanwhile, Nadal manages to hold but he's struggling against the big-serving Youzhny, who will now serve at 4-2.
1225: Nadal saves break point against Youzhny. It's an epic second game between Djokovic and Hewitt, in case you thought we'd forgotten that one.
1223: Berdych serves out the second set 6-0 and leads by two sets to love. He appears to be cruising into the last eight.
1221: Venus holds for 5-3 and Kuznetsova is serving to stay in the match.
1220: Youzhny has pushed the scoreline on to 4-1 in the second set. Just a single break still but Nadal needs to act soon to avoid falling two sets down.
1219: No sooner do I write that than Baghdatis breaks again for a 4-2 lead.
1218: Berdych is serving for the second set at 5-0 against Bjorkman - the Swede has fallen apart on Court 18. Meanwhile Davydenko has hit back against Baghdatis and they are back on serve in the second set. 3-2.
1217: Williams makes it three breaks in a row on Centre to lead 4-3. This could be over soon.
1215: On Court One, Hewitt nets to gift Djokovic the first break of the match in the opening game of the second set. The Aussie is now a set and a break down.
1214: Baghdatis now looks in control against Davydenko. He a set and a break up at 3-1.
1213: Kuznetsova breaks back after a mishit from Venus. It's quite a blustery day again which could explain that error. 3-3 is the score now. First set Venus.
1212: Some doubles news for you. Jamie Murray and Jelena Jankovic are back in action in the mixed event and they'vetaken the first set against the third seeds, Mark Knowles and Zi Yan.
1211: Williams saves all three break points.
1210: On the outside courts, Berdych has raced into a 3-0 lead in the second set against Bjorkman - and it's a double break.
1208: Back on Centre, Williams has broken for 3-2 but Kuznetsova has three break-back points.
1207: A long forehand from Hewitt proves the difference between the players in that first set. Djokovic, having saved three set points, takes the tie-breaker 10-8. That's deserved on the balance of play.
1206: 8-8 in the Hewitt-Djokovic breaker.
1205: Youzhny strikes and Nadal is in trouble. A superb forehand winner gave him break point and a half-court ball is meat and drink to the Russian who now leads 2-0 in the second set.
1204: Now it's set point to Djokovic. The Serb's return is into the net. 7-7!
1203: Djokovic levels at 6-6. Nadal saves a break point out on Court Two.
1202: Two set points to Hewitt at 6-4 in the breaker. However, Djokovic saves the first with a fine volley at the net. That was on the Aussie's serve.
1201: Correction. Baghdatis has taken the tie-break 7-5 against Davydenko to open a one-set lead.
1200: Djokovic has the mini-break back against Hewitt. 4-4.
1158: Kuznetsova holds for 2-1 but at one point in that last game openly applauded her opponent's winner. That says how well Venus is playing.
1157: Berdych takes the first set 6-4 against Bjorkman. Hewitt edges in front in the breaker and leads it 4-2 at the change of ends.
1155: Davydenko and Baghdatis are also into a tie-break,, while Berdych still has his break and is about to serve for the set at 5-4 against Bjorkman.
1153: Youznhy takes the first set against Nadal 6-4! He breaks in the 10th game. Stats show he's getting his first serve in 78 per cent of the time which is some record.
1152: Hewitt holds from 0-30 to take the first set into the predicted tie-break.
1150: The Russian wins the game thanks to an ace which had to be confirmed by a successful Hawk-eye challenge by Kuznetsova. It's a good match on Centre - it's just a shame few fans are in to see it. Admittedly when tickets were sold the start time was 1300, but you'd have though more would have come for the early start.
1149: Kuznetsova is fighting to stay in the opening game. She's just saved two more break points.
1148: Nadal is 4-5 down to Youzhny, who is playing well. The Spaniard is about to serve to stay in the opening set.
1147: Another ace allows Djokovic to move ahead again at 6-5. He'll be a relieved man after that game.
1146: Both are saved the second with an ace. Meanwhile, Kuznetsova saves another against her on Centre. Again the Russian stands firm.
1145: Hewitt gets stuck into the Djokovic serve at last and at 15-40 has two break points.

1136: Kuznetsova stays alive in the set, but Williams now gets a chance to serve it out at 5-3. Djokovic is now at 5-4 against Hewitt. With both serving well, it looks like a tie-break will decide the first set.

1116: Djokovic moves into a 2-1 lead. Out on Court Two, Youznhy holds easily in the first game against Nadal. The Russian has beaten Nadal twice in the past 12 months, both times on hardcourts, so this could be a tricky test for the Spaniard today. The last thing he needs afater all the delays in another five-setter.
1113: Venus comes from 15-40 down to hold in the first game. Kuznetsova didn't play those break points well. Interestingly, the Russian leads 3-2 in their head-to-head record, but they have yet to meet on grass.

1045: In the men's singles, former champion Lleyton Hewitt takes on fourth seed Novak Djokovic in what could well turn out to be the match of the day. That last-16 clash is first up on Court One. The other outstanding fourth-round matches are on the outside courts. that includes second seed Rafael Nadal who must brave the 'Graveyard of Champions' - Court Two - to face Mikhail Youzhny. Elsewhere it's Nikolay Davydenko against last year's semi-finalist Marcos Baghdatis, and Tomas Berdych against the oldest man left in the field, 35-year-old Swede Jonas Bjorkman.
1040: A better day weather-wise is expected, although he could get some rain later this afternoon. The ladies stole the show yesterday with excellent wins for Justine Henin and Venus Williams. Will today be the same? Venus is back in action at 1100 against Svetlana Kuznetsova but which version of the 23rd seed will turn up? The one that destroyed Maria Sharapova yesterday or the one thatonly just scraped past Akiko Morigami in round three? That match is followed on Centre by the last quarter-final - Ana Ivanovic v Nicole Vaidisova.
