Final Set: Mauresmo 6-4 Henin-Hardenne

Mauresmo goes 15-0 up with an ace, and then produces another to make it 30-15. She looks Sampras-like in her precision. But then Mauresmo lets a Henin-Hardenne lob go to make it 30-30. Will she crack? No. A great volley from Mauresmo to give herself championship point and Henin-Hardenne hits her forehand into the net. Mauresmo falls to her knees! She's the new Wimbledon champion.

Mauresmo's volley is just too long at 15-15 and Henin-Hardenne takes advantage to win the game after some powerful serves beat her opponent. 5-4, and Mauresmo is serving for the Wimbedon title. Can she hold it together? She has done so far this afternoon.

Mauresmo is in cruise-control on her serve with Henin-Hardenne only managing the one point. A wayward forehand from Henin-Hardenne signals the end of the game and Mauresmo sprints to her seat eager to get on with things.

A difficult service game for Henin-Hardenne and it's such a difference from the first set. Each player gets a bit of luck from mis-hits and net-deflections on the way to a deuce game. Mauresmo gets the chance to make it 4-0 but a decent volley from Henin-Hardenne saves the break point, before she eventually pulls through to win the game.

Mauresmo is much more settled now and goes three clear after a comfortable service game. Henin-Hardenne is allowing more and more unforced errors to creep into her game, and Mauresmo takes the game with an excellent volley.

Much more solid start to the second set from Mauresmo after her first game to love. She looks an imposing figure for the first time in the match with powerful first serves and authority at the net.

No nerves from Henin-Hardenne as she serves out for the set with the first service game to love. She wins the final point with her first ace which only highlights the ease at which the first set was won.

Another ace from Mauresmo but it's far from a comfortable service game. A rocket of a backhand from Henin-Hardenne takes it to deuce, before she gets the advantage after an unforced error from Mauresmo. Another backhand at the feet of Mauresmo wins the game and Henin-Hardenne looks to have this set in the bag.
