Dechy was the surprise package of last year's Australian Open when she beat three seeds en route to the semi-finals. That was the platform for her best-ever season, but a ranking fall this term was inevitable once she had failed to replicate her Melbourne heroics. Has performed creditably here in the past, making the last 16 in 2005, but will have to improve her form considerably to stand any chance of repeating that run.
