World ranking: 7 |
Verdict: Henin was the big surprise package at Wimbledon when she surged through the draw to reach the final.
Possessing a rare weapon in her impressive one-handed backhand which serves her well on the grass, Henin finally succumbed to three sets to Venus Williams in the final.
She surged up the rankings last season, moving from 48th to seventh during 2001 when she also helped her country to Fed Cup glory.
Reached three finals early this season but on each occasion lost to Venus Williams. Finally made a victorious breakthrough at the German Open but saw her French Open hopes dashed by illness and a thigh injury as she lost in the first round.
If she is completely recovered, Henin will be one to watch.
