(11) DANIELA HANTUCHOVA (SVK)

Date of Birth: 23.04.83
Became pro: 1999
World ranking: 13 |
Verdict: A teenage star who is flying up the world rankings and is now knocking on the door of the top ten.
Won her first tour title in stunning fashion in Indian Wells when she became the lowest seed (18) to win a Tier I event in 20 years.
Shocked Martina Hingis in the final having already beaten Justine Henin in the Californian desert.
Hantuchova is no mean doubles player either, having won the mixed title at the Australian Open in January with Kevin Ulyett. She also won the mixed at Wimbledon last year with Leos Friedl.
Clearly has a big future, but it is hard to judge how she will do on grass.
The limited signs are encouraging. She reached the last four at Edgbaston last year before bowing out here to Venus Williams which is no disgrace.
