 WIMBLEDON WOMEN'S SEEDS

(7) JELENA DOKIC (YUG)

Date of Birth: 12.04.83
Became pro: 1998
World ranking: 8

Verdict: Jelena Dokic has already made her name at Wimbledon, despite being only 19.

The Yugoslav, who until recently was representing Australia, reached the last eight as a qualifier in 1999, stunning top seed Martina Hingis in round one, before going one better and making the semi-finals the following year.

This season has seen the teenager dogged by injuries.

A run to the final of the Open Gaz de France in February saw her rise to a career-high ranking of sixth, but she was forced to miss that final due to injury.

A variety of ailments have seen Dokic - a winner in Sarastota - withdraw from tournaments and even midway through matches.

But those problems seem to have ceased over the past couple of months. Dokic reached the last eight of the French Open and then, turning her attention to grass, won the warm-up event at Edgbaston.

Has to be rated a good outside bet.
