 WIMBLEDON WOMEN'S SEEDS

(19) MAGDALENA MALEEVA (BUL)

Date of Birth: 01.04.75
Became pro: 1989
World ranking: 20

Verdict: Experienced campaigner Maleeva produced her best run at Wimbledon last year when she reached the fourth round before losing to Serena Williams.

Battled through to the last 16 in Melbourne in January but apart from that it has been a disappointing season which saw the Bulgarian slip out of the world's top 20.

Maleeva, whose sister Manuela made a big impact at Wimbledon in the past, has a poor Grand Slam record in recent years but she may be able to replicate her success of last year.

Won a couple of matches in the warm-up event at Edgbaston so looks to have found her feet on the grass. Not a serious contender though.
