1981: Born February 24, Adelaide.

1997: Became youngest qualifier in history of Australian Open, aged 15 and 11 months, before losing to former top 10 player Sergi Bruguera in first round.

1998: Turned professional.

1999: Reached third round at Wimbledon and US Open - losing at SW19 to Boris Becker on Centre Court.

2000: Became first teenager to win four titles in a season since Pete Sampras in 1990, finishing the year as top ranked Australian.

2001: 13-match winning streak ended in fourth round at Wimbledon by Nicolas Escude.

- Won first Grand Slam title, beating Pete Sampras in final of US Open.

- Finished year as the youngest player (20 years and 10 months) and first Australian to finish number one in 28-year history of ATP rankings.

2002: Beats British number one Tim Henman to win the Stella Artois tournament at Queens.

- Reaches first Wimbledon final with a straight-sets, semi-final demolition of Tim Henman on Centre Court.

- Wins Wimbledon for the first time, beating Argentinian David Nalbandian in straight sets (6-1 6-3 6-2) in just an hour and 57 minutes.
