 WIMBLEDON MEN'S SEEDS

(18) SJENG SCHALKEN (NED)

Date of Birth: 08.09.76
Became pro: 1994
World ranking: 31

Verdict: The Dutch Davis Cup star was a consistent winner in North America last season - where he included Andre Agassi among his hardcourt victims - and continued that form indoors in Europe where he won in Stockholm.

But after the turn of the year it was a constant struggle for Schalken and he hardly strung two wins together.

Put in a decent showing at the French Open though, winning through to round three and then taking a set off top seed Lleyton Hewitt.

Likes to stay back and win from the back of the court, but that didn't hinder him at Queen's Club where he reached the semi-finals before Hewitt proved his conqueror once more.

On that form he could do well.
