Verdict: Argentinian Canas was one of the big movers last season on the ATP ranking list, finishing 14th in the Champions Race.

This was largely due to his claycourt prowess, although he proved he is more than capable on other surfaces as the year went on, beating Yevgeny Kafelnikov at Wimbledon when he outrallied the Russian from the back of the court.

Has enjoyed a good season so far having won in Madras in the year's first tournament, and reaching the final on the clay in Casablanca.

Lost in the last eight at Roland Garros, but with a limited game for grass it would be a surprise to see such a performance repeated.
