Became pro: 1994
World ranking: 10 |
Verdict: Johansson hit the big time in January when he was the surprise winner of the Australian Open title.
Making the most of a good draw as seeds tumbled around him, the Swede came through to beat Marat Safin in the final.
Before then he failed too often on the big stage but since confidence has soared and good results indoors followed.
One of the better serve-volleyers, Johansson's preparations have been hampered by a hip injury which forced him out of the warm-up tournament in Nottingham where he was the defending champion.
If he is fully fit, he could well improve on his best showing here and reach the last eight.
