VERDICT

It's fair to say Hantuchova has flattered to deceive throughout her career and has really only threatened to go the distance at one Grand Slam - this year's Australian Open. It was the first time the Slovakian had ever reached the last four of a major but since then missed the French Open through injury and was dumped out of Wimbledon at the second-round stage. The 25-year-old didn't enjoy the best of Olympic Games either, slipping to Caroline Wozniacki in round two, so once again she'll remain an outsider for the forthcoming major at Flushing Meadows.
