VERDICT

The tall 19-year-old from Minsk has yet to win her first career singles title although she has tasted success at Flushing Meadows before - winning last year's US Open mixed doubles title. Even so, more singles success is expected from Azarenka, who has never gone beyond the fourth round in any Grand Slam in 11 attempts. A beaten finalist on the Gold Coast and in Prague this year, Azarenka reached the third round at the recent Olympic Games, before falling to Venus Williams.
