VERDICT

A relative unknown despite being ranked 10th in the world, Wawrinka is destined to live in the shadow of his compatriot Roger Federer. A runner-up in Doha and quarter-finalist in Indian Wells, Wawrinka made his first Masters Series final (in Rome)this season and reached the last four in Barcelona. Solid fourth round and third round appearances at Wimbledon and the French Open respectively will give him confidence ahead of the U.S, but his recent form is not great and he is likely to struggle to repeat last year's feat of making the fourth round.
