On his day Gonzalez is capable of beating anyone as was shown at last year's Australian Open when he reached the final. Prior to a French Open last eight loss to Roger Federer earlier this season the Chilean had racked up 16 successive wins and if he can repeat that sort of form he could be a real threat here. And he could have asked for no better preparation than winning a silver medal at the Olympic Games in Beijing, beating Sun Peng, Marin Cilic, Olivier Rochus, Paul-Henri Mathieu and James Blake before losing to Rafael Nadal in the final.
