The world number three gave Roger Federer a huge test in last year's final, losing the first two sets on tie-breaks and the third 6-4.
But he won his first Grand Slam on the hard court of the Australian Open and recently picked up the ATP Rogers Cup so he will be full of confidence.
And he will be desperate to erase a really poor Wimbledon from his memory after losing in the second round to Marat Safin.
The bookies can hardly separate Rafael Nadal, Federer and Djokovic at the top of the betting, but after winning in Australia and reaching the final of the French Open, this could well be the Serbian's year in New York.
