VERDICT

Henin may have suffered a seismic shock of a defeat at Wimbledon to Marion Bartoli, but she remains the one they all have to beat here. The world No1's loss to the unheralded Frenchwoman in SW19 is one of only four defeats this season and she quickly bounced back from it, winning the Rogers Cup title in Toronto - her sixth of the year - upon her return to the tour without dropping a set. Doesn't have the greatest of records here but did win in 2003 and could well do so again as long as a recent shoulder problem doesn't flare up.
