The pony-tailed Russian embarked on a 12-match winning streak on hardcourts earlier this summer, picking up titles in Cincinnati and Stanford and also beating Venus Williams. A virus laid her low in Toronto, but she should have recovered in time for this event and such has been her form that few will fancy playing this gritty performer. Yet to go beyond the last eight at a Grand Slam but there's plenty to suggest she could go better here. Looks a decent outside bet.
