VERDICT
Enjoyed a superb claycourt campaign, winning three titles before suffering a hip injury just days before the start of the French Open. One of the favourites, she duly lost in the first round. She has hardly played since, losing her comeback matches in both San Diego and LA, the latter prompting her to admit: "The problems are in me, especially in my head." That's hardly what potential backers want to here. Given the circumstances it's hard to see her making much of an impression at Flushing Meadows.
