VERDICT
Myskina's superb 2004 was followed by a miserable 2005, but now the Russian appears to be returning to her best. She made the last eight at Wimbledon but strangely hasn't based herself in the US prior to this event, preferring to head back to Europe to play in Stockholm where, in a weak field, she reached the final. Will be looking to reach the second week for only the second time here, but she will struggle to live up to any higher ambitions.
