The world's top claycourter, but it is now two and a half years since the diminutive but tigerish Belgian won a Grand Slam away from the dirt. However, she has gone close this season, reaching the finals in Melbourne and Wimbledon. Doesn't have the greatest record here - only in 2003 when she won the title has she gone beyond the last 16. Has also seen her preparation disrupted by a knee injury but put that behind her to triumph in the Pilot Pen event in New Haven.
