Has only just returned to the tour after five months out with a long-standing back injury. Lost in the first round on her return in LA. That's a far cry from her status as world number one back at the start of the year and an early exit here could well see long-talked-about retirement finally arrive. Hasn't won at Grand Slam level for six and a half years now and it's hard to see that statistic changing given her lack of preparation.
