  • But he looked a man on a mission as he raced 5-0 up in the second set
  • Ferrer staged a brief recovery with two games in a row
  • Nadal broke Ferrer's serve to close out a 6-3 6-2 win in 74 minutes
  • There were lots of Roger Federer fans in attendance for his evening match against Novak Djokovic in Group B
  • Top seeds Mike and Bob Bryan took on Ivan Dodig and Marcelo Melo to open the evening session
  • The Croat-Brazilian pairing of Dodig and Melo claimed a 3-6 6-3 10-8 win
  • Then it was time for the main event. Federer had qualified for the event for the 12th year in a row
  • Djokovic beat Federer in last year's final and has won his last three tournaments since losing to Rafael Nadal in the US Open final
  • Djokovic bagged the opening set 6-4, breaking Federer in the 10th game
  • Federer moved a break up in the second, only to immediately surrender his own serve
  • The Swiss player broke again but missed with a forehand when holding set point at 5-4, 40-30
  • Djokovic went on to break for 5-5 before both players held serve, meaning a tie-break was required to decide the second set
  • Federer dominated the tie-break 7-2, taking the match into a decider
  • Djokovic dominated the third set, breaking twice before serving it out 6-2
