  • Nadal quickly regrouped and dominated the third set 6-1 to edge back in front
  • The Spaniard served for the match at 6-5 in the fourth set but was broken
  • And Djokovic prevailed in the subsequent tie-break to force a deciding set
  • Djokovic earned an early break but Nadal again hit back as the match moved into its fifth hour
  • And it was Nadal who finally closed out victory, breaking to love to win the final set 9-7
  • In the second semi-final, David Ferrer won the opening five games on the way to taking the first set off Jo-Wilfried Tsonga 6-1 in 33 minutes
  • Home favourite Tsonga was being given the runaround
  • And Ferrer pushed on, winning the next two sets 7-6 6-2 to see out the victory and reach his first major final in his 42nd Grand Slam appearance
  • The Spaniard celebrated by lying flat on his back
  • Tsonga left the court reflecting on what might have been
