The United States will kick off their 2008 Fed Cup campaign in La Jolla, California.
The USTA has chosen the La Jolla Beach and Tennis Club - an outdoor hardcourt venue - to stage the first-round tie against Germany.
A temporary stadium court will be constructed for the tie, which takes place on February 2-3.
With a strong pool of players to choose from, including the Williams sisters, the USA will be looking to win the tournament for a record 18th time in 2008. However, their last victory came back in 2000.
La Jolla last staged a Fed Cup tie in 2006 when the USA beat Romania.
