The Williams sisters will play back-to-back matches at the opening night session of this year's US Open.
Former champions Venus and Serena will both play as part of a tribute to black tennis pioneer Althea Gibson, who will be inducted into the US Open's Court of Champions as part of a ceremony entitled 'Breaking Barriers'.
Monday night's action will also celebrate the 50th anniversary of her historic title victory at the event, then known as the US Nationals.
Serena Williams was the first black woman since Gibson to win the US Open, where she captured the trophy in 1999, while Venus (in 2000) was the first black woman since Gibson to win Wimbledon.
Serena will play Angelique Kerber, while Venus meets qualifier Kira Nagy.
The ceremony will feature more than 15 African-American female pioneers from the fields of sports, entertainment, politics and the arts.
