Former British number one Elena Baltacha, who reached the third round of Wimbledon five years ago, has been given a wild card by the All England Club for this year's event.
The 23-year-old from Middlesex is on the comeback trail after back surgery forced her to miss the entire grasscourt season in 2006 and is warming up for Wimbledon in the DFS Classic in Birmingham.
She has slipped to 11th in the British rankings and to 437th in the world but enjoyed a recall to the British Fed Cup squad in April and won her first-round match at the Surbiton Trophy last week.
Fellow Britons Anne Keothavong, Naomi Cavaday and Melanie South have also been handed wild cards into the ladies' singles, along with Viktoriya Kutuzova (Ukraine), Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova (Russia) and Caroline Wozniacki (Denmark).
Jamie Baker and Alex Bogdanovic, who got through the first round of the Artois Championships on Monday, were handed wild cards into the men's singles, along with compatriots Richard Bloomfield, Joshua Goodall and Jonathan Marray, plus Dutchman Thiemo de Bakker.
The All England Club have still to announce their three remaining wild-card choices.
