Justine Henin-Hardenne won her all-Belgian battle with Kim Clijsters to advance to Saturday's French Open final.
Fifth seed Henin-Hardenne, the defending champion, produced a solid rather than spectacular display against her great rival, who hit far too many unforced errors in the match.
The Parisian fans had been expecting one of the games of the tournament but in the event Henin-Hardenne posted a rather routine 6-3 6-2 win.
Henin-Hardenne broke at 3-3 in the first set before closing it out easily enough.
She broke again at 1-1 in the second set, and when a listless Clijsters hit yet another forehand long to hand Henin-Hardenne another break at 4-2 in the second set, the writing was on the wall.
Henin-Hardenne, who also won the event in 2003, finished matters easily on her first match point and she will now meet Svetlana Kuznetsova in Saturday's final.
