Francesca Schiavone and Shuai Peng both advanced to the second round of the Commonwealth Bank Tennis Classic on Monday.
The fifth-seeded Schiavone, who enters the Bali hardcourt event off a second-round loss at the US Open, coasted to a 6-2 6-0 triumph over Sandy Gumulya.
The Italian will now meet Akgul Amanmuradova.
Peng, the ninth seed, also had an easy time in a 6-2 6-1 destruction of Ayumi Morita. The Chinese, who also lost in the second round at Flushing Meadows, next meets either Jan-Yung Chan or Vasilisa Bardina.
Other winnerson Monday included Amanmuradova, Meng Yuan, Tamira Paszek and Marta Domachowska.
Daniela Hantuchova and Patty Schnyder, the top two seeds, received first-round byes.
Defending champion Lindsay Davenport has not entered this year.
