Jennifer Capriati repeated her Australian Open final victory over Martina Hingis as she sunk the Swiss top seed to win the Family Circle Cup.
American Capriati, the second seed, battled to defeat top-seeded Hingis 6-0 4-6 6-4 on the South Carolina clay for her second title of the year.
She steamrollered her 20-year-old opponent in the first set, but from then on the match made thrilling viewing as the players exchanged long rallies from the baseline, with only Hingis seemingly keen to attack the net.
Hingis made fewer unforced errors, 30 to Capriati's 45, but was 34-15 down on winners and paid the price for her lack of power.
The title is Florida-based Capriati's 10th of her WTA Tour career, which floundered in the mid-1990s as she lost interest in the sport and further confirms the steps she has made since returning.
Eleven years ago, as a 14-year-old, Capriati won her first Tour title at the same venue, but on a hard court.
She goes top of the WTA money list for the season, leap-frogging Hingis, with 891,390 US Dollars (£617,819).
