Andy Murray: Third seed for Olympics

The British star, who will be looking to go one better at the All England Club than he did at Wimbledon when he finished runner-up, could therefore have to play Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic in back-to-back matches to win gold.

Murray remains fourth in the latest ATP ranking list - which will be used to determine the seedings - behind Federer, Djokovic and Rafael Nadal.

However, with Nadal ruled out of the Olympics due to injury, Murray will be seeded third for the draw, which takes place at 1100 BST on Thursday.

World number one Federer will be the top seed for the tournament, which gets under way on Saturday.

In the women's draw, that honour will go to Victoria Azarenka, with Wimbledon champion Serena Williams fourth.

Monday's new WTA ranking list sees British number one Heather Watson climb to a new career high of 67th, up four places on last week.

Watson is currently only due to play doubles at the Olympics, alongside Laura Robson.

Elena Baltacha, who will play singles along with Anne Keothavong, drops out of the top 100.

The men's list sees Juan Monaco move into the world's top 10 for the first time.

The Argentine climbs four places to replace Nicolas Almagro in 10th following his title success in Hamburg.
