Hutchins teamed up with Dutch 28-year-old Jesse Huta Galung for the event in a bid to get more match practice under his belt but the experienced French pair of Michael Llodra and Nicolas Mahut had their measure and posted a 7-6 (7/1) 6-3 victory.
It was a first tour event for Hutchins since making his return to grand slam tennis at the Australian Open in January. The 28-year-old missed the whole of last season after being diagnosed with the cancer Hodgkin's lymphoma in December 2012 but has been in remission since July.
