Kristina Mladenovic, 20, and 41-year-old Daniel Nestor eased to victory in the final, defeating India's Sania Mirza and Romanian Horia Tecau 6-3 6-2.
It was the second Grand Slam title for the pairing, who also won at Wimbledon last season.
It was also Nestor's third mixed title in Melbourne, the Canadian veteran having also won in 2007 and 2011.
Sixth seeds Tecau and Mirza had both won the title before - with different partners - but they were no match for the unseeded duo and the contest was over in less than hour.
Tecau and Mirza were unable to win any of their five break-point chances and were broken twice in each set.
